Media Monday

I've been wanting to post this theme for a few weeks now but I haven't been able to blog the past few Mondays!  On Media Mondays I want to talk about music, movies or tv shows that have caught my attention lately.

Music
I recently bought the 500 Days of Summer and My Sister's Keeper soundtracks on iTunes.  I LOVE a lot of the songs on those two soundtracks.  A few of my favorites are:

  • Us-Regina Spektor
  • Sweet Disposition-The Temper Trap (this one is also in the ads for the new Shark lawyer show on ABC)
  • You Make My Dreams-Hall & Oates
This was also a cute movie.  Weird endiing but some super cute parts.  Especially enjoyed the dance sequence to that last song! :)

  • Feels Like Home-Edwina Hayes
  • Life Is Beautiful-Vega 4
  • Girls Just Want To Have Fun-Greg Laswell
This was a sad movie.  I was kind of dissapointed that they changed the ending from the book but the topic is still very sad.

Movies

We saw Avatar on Friday night. Let's just say I wasn't really a fan.  Way too long. The theater was about 12 degrees and the chairs were terrible.  I did catch myself thinking "pretty colors" quite a few times.  So, yes, it's a beautiful film.  I just wasn't as impressed as all the hype made it out to be.

I want to see When In Rome with Josh Duhmel (yummy) and Kristen Bell. Maybe that will be our next movie night!

Television

Last night I watched the Lifetime movie Pregnancy Pact.  Holy terrible.

That's all I have to say about that.

What music, movies and tv shows have caught your interest lately?

Happy Monday! :)

Tornado Tuesday?!?!?!?

So there were tornado warnings in Orange County today! How crazy is that?!?

Well, it's been a week since my last post.  Some stuff has happened in that week too.  We were supposed to go to the River for the weekend but I had a minor meltdown on Friday and stayed home.  I honestly felt like I was taking crazy pills.  I was an emotional mess to say the least.  I feel so bad for treating my husband the way I did and for letting some of my good friends (you know who you are, and I <3 you for not thinking I am too crazy) be partially involved.  I wish sometimes I could be a guy and not have to deal with the crazy ass hormones that surge through my body sometimes.

Luckily I am feeling much better now and our weekend wasn't completely ruined.  We went out to dinner with Mike and Ashley on Saturday night and took Bentley to the Dog Park in Orange on Sunday before it started raining.

We met my family for dinner on Sunday night. My little brother, Randy, leaves for the Navy tomorrow morning TONIGHT(we just found out!!!) so we got together to see him before he goes.  We got into an awesome discussion about the "Great Storm of '95" and it was great to see him one last time before he leaves for 9 months! I'll miss you Brother!

On Monday we took Lee's car in to be serviced and after finding out that it would cost $1,000 we decided to just trade it in and put that $1,000 towards a new car while lowering the monthly payments and getting better gas mileage!

We got him a 2010 Chevy Malibu.  I've only ridden in it during the test drive but I think he really likes it.  It was quite the experience shopping for cars in pouring rain and after cleaning out his old car we were both drenched.  We also ordered me a 2010 Chevy Equinox but it won't be here for 6 weeks!

We figured since he had to downgrade from an SUV to the sedan for the mileage and he can't drive my car because it's a stickshift anyway, I should drive the (small) SUV and we can trade when we need to.  Then his car can be used almost exclusively for work and we can use my car for everything else.  I'm either going to try to sell my car through Auto Trader or just sell it to Car Max when the new one comes in. So, if you know of anybody in the market for a 2004 VW Jetta with about 52,000 miles on it let me know! It has heated leather seats, a moon roof and is manual. :D

So excited for my new car(s)!!!!

Happy Tuesday! ;)

Thankful Thursday

My goal is to find at least one new thing every Thursday that I am thankful for.

Today, I am thankful for..........my husband's amazing cooking skills!  I am going to be missing those skills tonight and tomorrow night as I have to try to fend for myself on the food front!  He has the ability to come up with recipes on the fly that almost always turn out delicious.  He's had quite a few happy accidents that have changed my tastebuds forever.  Cheesy corn tatoes, greek toast and it's new little brother mini greek toast, his noodle and chicken and whatever's in the fridge casseroles are always a delight!

I don't even know how to tell if produce is ripe or good, how to buy meat is a mystery to me and don't even get me started on cooking it.  I'm capable of browning ground meat and boiling pasta and that's about it.  I can re-heat some stuff be he can even do that and make it taste piping hot and fresh.  I would probably go hungry or be poor/fat from all of the meals out I would have without him.

On second thought......I have gotten a little thicker in the middle since he became all Iron Chefy..... ;)

What the Heck Wednesday!

So, my plan was to have something like Wishful Wednesday or something upbeat, positive and happy.  Then today happened.  It started out with the usual coworker bull shit (shocker-she flaked AGAIN), then when I finally did get into the office to start working on things I had nothing but technical difficulty after technical difficulty.  First the copier needs a part that I don't have so I had to place a service call. Awesome. Now I'm trying to mail merge a document in Publisher and the one button I need to do this is un-clickable! Grrrrrrrr!

Can't wait for this hump day to be over with.

Lee leaves early tomorrow morning to fly to Florida for his national sales meeting and I get to go to Palm Springs on Saturday for mine.  I was pretty bummed to find out they were the same weekend this year, because Palm Springs is the perfect excuse for him to come with me and hang out.  No plane tickets!  Oh well, maybe another time.  I'm looking forward to the meetings though.  It's always fun to catch up with all the reps from around the country and to swap ideas.  I'm a huge nerd and love hearing marketing's new plans for the upcoming year.  Usually their plans are pretty laughable since they seem to think trends start in Indiana.  This year should be especially interesting because we are being "Re-Branded."  Not quite sure what that means but we've seen some sneak peeks and it doesn't look all that innovative or exciting to me.  To be honest, from what little I have heard, it sounds like it's going to be a giant, stupid pain in the ass. Oh well, it's the thought that counts, right? ;)

Catch up!

Happy New Year!!!!!

Since it's been a while since my last post, I'm going to play a little bit of catch up.  The month of December was busy as usual.  We started the month off by throwing a surprise Birthday Dinner Party for our good friend Sti!

The next day we went wine tasting for our Little Bro Brady's Birthday in Temecula.  It was very cold but very fun!

I also threw my first Christmas Cocktail and Cookie Exchange party.  I invited a bunch of girl friends, kicked Lee out for the night and we had a ton of fun catching up, playing some games and munching on very tasty goodies!  Everyone got to take home a ton of different, very delicious cookies at the end of the night!

We also celebrated Lee's 28th birthday on December 14th.  It was a very low key celebration.  Dinner with his family at Nieuport 17, dinner just the two of us at Hibachi and dinner with friends at Pepz.  My dad and brother and our nephew also celebrated birthdays this month.

My good friend, Erin, lost her Grandpa Ruben early in December.  Ruben was almost a gradfather to me as well, and he was dearly missed this Christmas Eve.

The Christmas celebrations started with Christmas Eve at Uncle Billy and Aunt Ris' followed by the Dominguez Christmas Eve celebration.  Christmas morning we woke up bright and early (and a bit hungover from the tequila and tamales!) and headed over to Laura and Craig's to open presents with Lee's family.  We had a great breakfast there and then headed to my parent's house for an early dinner with my family. Our Christmas gift to each other this year was a flat screen tv for the bedroom!

We rung in 2010 with all of our best friends with dinner at Geisha House followed by an awesome dance party at the Olsen's.

The next morning we hosted what we hope to make a new tradition, a New Year's Day brunch.  Friends came over in pajamas and had a delicious brunch and got to recap the previous night's activities and fill in some blanks for those who may have had a few too many cocktails!

I have mixed feelings about resolutions so I haven't exactly made any yet.  I always say I'd like to get in shape, work on my diet and exercise plan, etc. but that doesn't ever seem to pan out! Last years' resolution hung in there for a few months at least. ;) I do have some goals for 2010.

1. Have a baby.
2. Save money.
3. Get in shape.
4. Show the people I love, how much they mean to me more often.
5. Be a better blogger.  My goal is to attempt to post on a weekdaily basis.  I'm coming up with some themes to help me out with this.
6. Have a more positive attitude and outlook in all aspects of my life.  I'd like to be a glass half full person from now on!

I'm sure I could come up with more if I really tried.

From looking at facebook and other's blogs a lot of people seemed to have a not great 2009.  I have to say mine was good, not great but good.  I reevaluated a lot of relationships and think I've prioritized some of them more appropriatly.  I've become involved in Theta again.  I've loved, I've lost.  I've seen some great people have some great milestones. While I'm not sad to see 2009 in the rearview mirror, I wasn't dying for it to be over either.  I am really looking forward to 2010 and all that's ahead.  My brother leaves for the Navy in 2 weeks.  My sister will graduate from High School in June.  Changes are beginning at work.  I am going to do everything in my power to expand our family. I plan to have even more fun this year than last.  All in all I have high expectations for 2010 and while we're only 5 days in, so far it hasn't been too bad!

So, here's to you 2010!  Let's do this year up right!
